De Bethune Swordfish DB28
The DB28GS Swordfish, introduced at Watches and Wonders 2025, is De Bethune’s latest dive watch. It sets the manufacture’s avant-garde design language in a dark, purposeful package. The case middle is black zirconium with De Bethune’s signature “Microlight” decoration, paired with a hardened stainless steel bezel and case back in black, brushed and polished. The finishes move from matte to gloss across the case. The unidirectional rotating bezel carries twelve blue dots that echo the blued crown and the push button at 6 o’clock.
The 44mm case is only 12.8mm thick and water-resistant to 100 meters. It sits on De Bethune’s patented floating lugs, which have blued grade 5 titanium inserts and follow the wrist naturally for remarkable comfort. The openworked dial reveals the movement beneath a black satin-brushed titanium minute ring with cut-out Arabic numerals, accented with blued titanium on the bridges, inner track and seconds hand. *A press of the 6 o’clock button activates De Bethune’s mechanical lighting system. A dynamo powered by the twin barrel lights the dial from all four corners, with no battery involved.
Inside is the in-house calibre DB2080, a hand-wound movement of 400 parts and 51 jewels beating at 4Hz. Its self-regulating twin barrel delivers a five-day power reserve, shown between 9 and 10 o’clock. It has De Bethune’s titanium balance wheel with white gold inserts, a patented balance spring with a flat terminal curve, a silicon escape wheel and the triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system. Through the open case back, the movement shows the finishing of the L’Auberson workshops, making the Swordfish as much a showcase of haute horlogerie as a capable tool watch.
